SAN
FRANCISCO ARCHERS, INC. is a nonprofit organization that promotes
archery at all levels of ability and age. The club is run by volunteer
officers that are elected annually by the membership. The membership
year starts January 1.
The Club is affiliated with these organizations: National Field
Archery Association (NFAA), California Bow Hunters (CBH), State
Archery Association (SAA), and Northern California Field Archery
Association (NCFAA). We are a Chartered Club of the NFAA and our
ranges are certified championship NFAA outdoor field courses. Membership
in these organizations not required, but is encouraged in order
to support archery and bowhunting at state and national levels.
Informationand applications are available in the Clubhouse.
You should submit your application and a check for
the appropriate amount (see dues schedule below) at a Board Meeting
(currently the first Monday of any month at 7:30 p.m.) or a work
party (9:00 a.m. on the Saturday before the second Sunday of any
month). Otherwise, submit your application by mail or drop it off
at the clubhouse. New Memberships are subject to approval by the
Board and you must attend one work party (or perform 4 hours of
work on arrangement with the Range Captain) before being considered
for approval. Once your membership has been approved, you will receive
your membership tag and other materials. Clubhouse keys may be requested
after completion of your third work party.
As a member, you are expected to participate in three (3) scheduled
work parties per year (inclusive of special work parties for club-sponsored
shoots--Cabin Fever, Traditional Rendezvous, and 1,000,000 B.C.).
It takes many hours of work to maintain the range in working order
for the benefit and safety of all members. No member is exempt from
participating in work parties. As mentioned above, if you cannot
attend the scheduled work parties, contact the Range Captain to
make arrangements within your schedule.
Club Shoots are held on the second
Sunday of each month starting at approximately 9:00 a.m. and are
open to all club members. Club Shoots usually consist of 28 targets
and are classified as an NFAA sanctioned competition. Therefore,
NFAA members are eligible to earn NFAA award pins and patches. Join
your fellow club members for some friendlycompetition, camaraderie
and to enjoy the fruits of your labors on the range. General Club
Meetings are scheduled periodically during the year when member
input is needed on club issues. They are usually scheduled either
immediately after a work party or Board meeting. General Club Meetings
are announced in the Arrow, the official club newsletter which is
issued monthly. The Arrow contains of a calendar of club events,
clubnews, articles, and items of interest which are contributed
by members.
